Fahmi first gained recognition in the motoring world by making it to the top 20 of the Shell Advance Malaysian MotoGP 2009 in the 125cc category, racing as a wildcard rider for the AirAsia Malaysia 125cc MotoGP Team. His entrance in the MotoGP World Championships marks him as the first ever Malaysian to compete on the world stage in the 125GP class (2010 - 2011) and Moto3 class (2012 - 2015). Zulfahmi was the first Malaysian rider to claim podium finishes in Moto3 with an impressive second place at Sepang and a third place finish at Valencia in 2012 with the AirAsia SIC-Ajo Team.
2016, the sole Malaysian rider in the FIM Supersport World Championship (WorldSSP), Muhammad Zulfahmi Khairuddin won 2nd place, marking history in Malaysian motorsports by being the first Malaysian rider to achieve a podium finish in the WorldSBK with Team Orelac Racing VerdNatura.
Fahmi currently is entrusted with the responsibility to develop young Malaysian riders to sustain the Malaysian two-wheels motorsports industry with a goal to nurture future champions that will set pride for the country.
